The Port of Le Havre handles over 70 million tonnes of cargo annually, dominated by containers (Port 2000), hydrocarbons, chemicals, and roll-on/roll-off traffic. The port serves as the Atlantic gateway for the Paris basin and is a critical node in European supply chains. Rouen, 120 km up the Seine, is Europe's leading cereal export port and handles containers and heavy industrial cargo. The Seine estuary (HAROPA) is effectively France's first port complex when Le Havre, Rouen, and Paris are combined.
